Gene Wilder
Gene Wilder was an actor who played many roles in movies during the 1970s. As Willy Wonka the gentle chocolate factory worker, his first big break came in 1971. Wilder was also a fox in the musical adaptation of "The Little Prince" during the 1970s. He directed his first directorial work in 1975 in Woody Allen’s spoof, “Everything You Wanted About Sex.”
Wilder and Richard Pryor teamed up in the 1980s for the comedy Stir Crazy (1980), and See No Evil, Hear No Evil (89). He also starred in films with Gilda Radner, such as Hanky Panky (1982) and The Woman in Red (1984). Wilder's career ended after Radner's passing. How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It has 2,711 stars embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.
You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your name inscribed on it is also included. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.
You may apply to be a star if you are nominated by a HWOF member or if you make significant contributions to television, radio, TV, theatre, music or other forms of "popular culture". A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they do, they will send a letter explaining their decision to the applicant at his/her home address. The second letter is sent to the applicant confirming acceptance of the nomination if the person accepts it. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce charges $25, and then the money is sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angles.
