What is the average number of movies Hollywood makes in a year?

Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. Yes, that's correct, three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions on advertising for these films. They spend millions creating them. They spend millions to promote them. How many end up being released in theaters?

Most likely, the answer is around 200-300. What happens to the 2,700+ other films? Many of the films are either directly-to-video released or left to collect dust in storage vaults.

They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some of them were selected for distribution via Netflix Prime, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus, iTunes or Google Play.

Hence, why aren't there more of them? Why aren't they released in theaters? They're too costly to produce.

They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.

That's where my expertise comes in. I'll help you find the best way for your film to be released in theaters.

I will teach you how to increase your return on investment (ROI), as well as increasing your chances of seeing the movie in theaters.

Let's face it, we all know...

It can be hard to get your film into the theaters. It is a complex, long-winded and complicated process that requires a lot of legalities.

You may end up spending a lot of money before you get started.

To make matters worse, the window of time during which you can distribute your film is extremely limited.

There simply isn't enough time between when a film is finished, and its theatrical run begins.

What's the difference of an indie movie and a foreign-language film?

A film made independently is typically done by one filmmaker, who makes all the decisions.

On the other side, a foreign-language film is normally produced by an even larger production team.

They often hire writers and actors from other nations.

So that the dialogue sounds natural, they also employ professional translators.

What percentage of box office profits goes to marketing?

Marketing budgets account for approximately 20% to 40% of film budgets. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.

Without marketing, nobody will know anything about your film. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

How To

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star is a symbol of someone who contributed to the production of motion pictures, television, radio and theater or other aspects popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.

To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you have been approved, you will be given a certificate that shows your name and details, including date of birth, place of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your name inscribed on it is also included. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.

You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. The second letter is sent to the applicant confirming acceptance of the nomination if the person accepts it. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a check payable the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then sends the check directly to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The artist or organization then pays the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce half the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. You would owe $15,000. If you were first Nominated in 1990, for example. If you were nominated for the first time in 1990, you would owe $15,000.

If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove your name from this list.

How old do you have to be in order to receive a star on HWOF?

You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

A family member can nominate your name for a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF was not created to be a historical landmark. It's meant to be a tribute to those who have contributed to film history.

What happened to all the stars stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
