Distributors have to negotiate with theater owners over where their movies should play. This could mean that certain theaters may charge more for a particular movie than others. If you want your movie to be seen by as many people as possible, you should choose a distributor with many theaters.

Many indie filmmakers believe that distributors will take their films.

They are certain distributors will take their films, as they know that the public will love them.

But this is rare. Distributors often take advantage of independent filmmakers.

They will use techniques such as delaying the release of a movie until after the awards season has ended.

Or they delay the release date of a low-budget film until after the summer blockbuster season has begun.

Distributors are also trying to keep films off the streets until audiences have already spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on tickets or popcorn.

How To

How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF) was established in 1960 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.

You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, a certificate will be sent to you stating that you are eligible. This includes your name as well as date of birth and the city where you live. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.

If you were nominated by an HWOF member, or if there are significant contributions made to the entertainment, film, radio, theatre, and music industries, you may be eligible for a "star" award. A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a check payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which sends the check to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays artists or organizations whose applications were accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due will depend on when you were first nominated. For example, if you were first nominated in 1990, you would owe $15,000. If you were nominated for the first time in 1990, you would owe $15,000.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove your name from this list.

What age is required to become a HWOF star?

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To receive a coveted star, one must be at least 18 years old. One can still be nominated after receiving a star after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place an honorary marker in front of the star if there are no living relatives.

Why not use a new street, instead of staring at everyone?

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It is meant to honor those who contributed to film history.

What happened to all the stars stolen? The thieves stole approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250 and 300 lbs. This makes it approximately 4 tons!
