FAQ
Is Hollywood larger than Bollywood?
Producing a movie that is well-received by the public is the biggest challenge for film producers.
Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. If you don't stand out, your chances of being seen are slim.
But what makes a movie great? What makes an actor famous or a director? Or a director? It's not just talent - it's also luck. Even if you have the most talented actors in the world they won't be able to make it work if they write bad scripts.
Two main types exist when it comes down to film: large-budget blockbusters or small independent productions. Blockbuster movies are expensive to produce and distribute. They are typically made by huge studios who want to ensure that their movies reach a wide audience. These big-budget movies appeal to older audiences.
Independent films are generally smaller-scale productions that may be financed by individuals or groups of investors. These films often focus on niche markets and cater to specific tastes. They are generally less costly to produce and market. However, this does not mean they are always less expensive to watch. In fact, most indie films are very hard to find.
The question is: Do we really need both types of movies? Do we need blockbuster movies, or smaller independent films? Hollywood is much bigger than Bollywood. Hollywood produces nearly twice as many movies annually as India.
What's the difference of an indie movie and a foreign-language film?
An independent film is usually made by a single filmmaker who makes his or her own decisions about everything.
The opposite is true for foreign language films. They are usually produced by a larger production company.
They often hire actors, writer, and directors from abroad.
Professional translators are also available to ensure that the dialogue sounds natural.

How To
How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1960 established the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The HWOF is located in Los Angeles at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.
To become a HWOF member, you need to submit a name to Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They then submit your details to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.
You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays artists or organizations whose applications were accepted. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.
After an artist has received his/her Star, he/she can be eligible for the HWOF. To be listed on the HWOF, you must pay the remaining balance owed to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due will depend on when you were first nominated. For example, $15,000. Suppose you were first nominated as a nominee in 1990. For example, if your first nomination was in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if it had been in 1980, you would owe 10,000.
You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will remove you from the list.
How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?
When nominated, one must have at least 18-years-old. To receive a star, one must be alive at that time. A star can be renominated after 10 years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Family members may nominate you to be a star. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.
Why not just have stars on every street?
The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It is meant to honor those who contributed to film history.
What happened the star thefts? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
